Start with three decisions
Shenzhen is spread out. Plan around your hotel and arrival point, rather than treating Futian, Nanshan and Luohu as neighboring stops on one walk.
SZX airport, a named railway station, or a Hong Kong checkpoint: save the exact place on your ticket.
Compare the hotel’s location with your main plans, then save its Chinese address and nearest useful metro stop.
Protect arrival and departure time. Three nights and three full sightseeing days are different plans.
Where to stay in Shenzhen
Use these as planning trade-offs, then check the exact hotel. They are area suggestions, not a ranking of individual hotels.

Getting here
Metro Line 11 serves Airport Station and connects toward Nanshan and Futian. Compare the full journey, including the last leg to your hotel.
Futian (福田), Shenzhen North (深圳北), Shenzhen (深圳) and Shenzhen East (深圳东) are different stations.
A rail arrival and a land checkpoint create different onward journeys. Match your crossing to your Shenzhen destination.
Check the travel-day timetable before relying on a last train. A late flight arrival may leave less time after immigration and baggage collection.

Your Shenzhen itinerary
This is a suggested route, with arrival included on Day 1. Swap days to match your hotel, weather and opening times. Allow a transfer between separate districts and attractions.
Futian · 福田
Keep it flexible. Arriving late? Keep only the hotel and dinner. Move the Futian walk to your next free half-day.
Nanshan · 南山
Keep it flexible. OCT-LOFT and the bay require a transfer. In heavy rain or heat, choose one indoor venue and shorten or skip the waterfront.
Futian or your departure area
Keep it flexible. An early departure replaces this day’s outing. Not interested in electronics? Use the morning for a neighborhood walk or a pre-checked museum visit.
Have 5 days?
Give Huaqiangbei or a creative venue more time if it matches your interests. Add a separate Shekou / Sea World outing, or use an extra day for Luohu. Keep one flexible half-day.
Have 7 days?
Use the extra time for a slower neighborhood day and a weather backup. Consider a Dapeng coastal outing only after checking the journey and weather, or reserve the time for a separately planned Hong Kong connection.

A few practical questions
Three days is a useful starting point for a few central districts, with the first day kept light. This suggested route includes arrival time. If your arrival is late and departure is early, you have much less sightseeing time: choose one main outing instead of squeezing in all three days.
Start with your actual stops. Futian is our suggested base for the central-city route on this page; Nanshan makes more sense when most of your plans are in the west; Luohu can suit an itinerary centered on its older commercial streets or a specific rail or border connection. Compare the exact hotel’s nearest useful station, not the district name alone.
You can plan the two places as separate trip segments, but check your permission to enter each destination and to return if needed. Choose the crossing and onward transport before fixing your schedule. A transport booking or a Shenzhen itinerary does not establish entry eligibility.
Check the airport’s current transport information for your arrival time and hotel area. Keep the hotel’s Chinese address and telephone number offline, and use the signed official taxi or booked ride-hailing pickup arrangements. Confirm a late check-in with the hotel and keep the first evening free of timed plans.
